Ruff Wear Hosts Sen. Wyden Event
On Friday afternoon, August 13th, Ruff Wear was honored to host an informal town hall meeting at Ruff Wear Headquarters for US Senator Ron Wyden. The meeting was sponsored and organized by The Conservation Alliance and the Oregon Natural Desert Association (ONDA), two Central Oregon-based groups working to protect wildlands and wilderness in North America. Keeping it local, The Conservation Alliance, ONDA and Ruff Wear spent some time with Senator Wyden highlighting the value of these Central Oregon spaces that we all know and love. Everyone in attendance agreed that access to these open spaces is good for business and citizens (and dogs!), alike. Senator Wyden is working diligently on legislation that will protect and conserve Oregon wild lands. Thanks to Senator Wyden for taking time to come see us!

Ruff Wear Lunch & Learn Series
About once a month, we get together and have lunch while we learn about various topics. Our latest get-together found us watching the movie 180° South. It was a thought-provoking story about a guy who set out to climb a mountain in Chile and the life lessons he came back with. After watching the movie, some of us were ready to sell everything and take off for destinations unknown! From the Ruff Wear Movie Reviewers….this movie gets two thumbs up!

Ruff Wear Returns from Outdoor Retailer
A Note From Our Pack Leader, Patrick:
“Having attended OR since 1990 most of those years both Summer and Winter I thought I would share a few images from this year. Rather then show the meat and potatoes version of meeting with vendors to discuss the material content and denier of fabric, learning about the loft of insulation, checking out new product and material offerings, setting up and breaking down the booth, showcasing Ruff Wear product, I wanted to share a slightly different version.

Walking to the OR show following some guys who are building that high-rise where the mall once stood. Utah's reputation and mantra of the beehive state rings true (busy as bees).

Design inspiration for making products look FAST - These cars were participating in Fast Pass, a fund raiser for the Utah Hwy Patrol.
Well that wraps up another Summer Market Outdoor Retailer. Thanks to everyone for making the show a successful adventure.
Yip, yip,
Patrick”

Race for the River Leaves Ruff Wear Racing for More Float Coats
Ruff Wear participated in the first-ever Race for the River event Saturday, August 14 in Bend, Oregon. The river events included a kayak, canoe, free swim, stand up paddleboard, inflatables, and our favorite, the race-with-your-dog events racing down the Deschutes River. As a title sponsor, Ruff Wear donated free float coats to all racers who had their four-legger accompany them down the river. At a $50 value, this left us scrambling for more float coats, racing to our warehouse two times so 75 dogs could be outfitted in the latest gear!
The most popular dog-friendly event was the inflatables section, but dogs were found on stand up paddleboards, inside canoes, on top of kayaks, and directly beside swimmers, too! And this event wasn’t just limited to those water-loving Labs and Goldens…we had appearances from Yorkies, Pitbulls, Great Danes…you name it!
Proceeds from the race went to benefit the Deschutes River Conservancy.
