On November 7th, we opened our doors to the local community for our most successful Demo Sale to date. We held the annual Demo Sale – a sale of slightly used products, samples and resalable returned items – at our Bend, Oregon headquarters. Our goal was to raise money to donate all of the proceeds to two excellent organizations – DogPAC and Best Friends Animal Society – splitting the proceeds up evenly between the two organizations.
Customers and their pups lined up outside an hour before the sale started in the late afternoon for a chance to purchase gear at reduced prices. As a bonus, the Mount Bachelor Avalanche Rescue Dogs joined us to introduce their two new puppy team members – Mango and Banyan – and get them outfitted with their official Avi-Dog uniforms. These uniforms consist of a Web Master™ Harness, Headwater™ Collar and Quick Draw™ Leash.
“This event was festive, put product into folks’ hands that can truly benefit and use while creating a financial resource for DogPAC to enhance our recreational opportunities locally in Bend, as well as assisting folks and four-leggeds impacted by Sandy on the East coast” said Ruffwear’s founder Patrick Kruse after the event.
On top of sending 50% of the proceeds to Best Friends Animal Society for their Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, we also shipped 26 Climate Changer™ fleece dog coats to help keep dogs living without power warm. We owe a large thank you to FedEx for offering to ship these coats for free to show their support of companies trying to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
DogPAC is a Central Oregon-based non-profit dedicated to advocacy of off-leash recreation areas for dogs and their human companions as well as on-the-ground trail maintenance. To learn more about DogPAC, follow this link: http://www.dogpac.org/
